The Beechmount Name

Beechmount takes it’s name from the farm where Joe grew up, and derives from a circle of large beech trees enclosing a local Iron Age site. Irish people value the traditions and wisdom of earlier ages, so this sturdy mound and surrounding trench, originally dug from the earth by ancient farmers, once containing a fortified dwelling, is left undisturbed. Such places represent continuity, with trees marking the cycle of growth. Like these early peoples, we shape the world’s future as we grow.
